Community Engagement and Dialogue
The Welcoming and Inclusive Communities Dialogue Initiative is a component of the Community Engagement and Dialogues Program element of the EmbraceBC initiative. The Dialogue Initiative compliments initiatives under WelcomeBC.
The Dialogue Initiative provides local citizens an opportunity to:
- Engage with each other in an atmosphere of respect and empathy.
- Share experiences and search together to identify challenges and solutions on themes related to the elimination of racism and the support of multiculturalism.
- Explore unique ways to support welcoming and inclusive communities.
Examples of community engagement and dialogue projects may include (but are not limited to):
- projects that use dialogue tools and engage communities
- Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal relationship-building initiatives
- projects that engage local government and business around multiculturalism and anti-racism
- intergenerational projects that deepen relationships between elders and youth of various cultures and communities
